Presenter: Catherine Collins-Fulea

Catherine Collins-Fulea, DNP, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, has been a certified nurse midwife since 1981, spending her career serving the women of inner-city Detroit. In 1991, she joined the Henry Ford Health System and built one of the largest midwifery practices in the country. The practice was unique in that midwives worked as partners with OB/GYN physicians rather than in silos, each with their own respected area of expertise. The midwives were integrated into the education of residents and medical students, and the physicians were integrated into the education of midwifery students. Dr. Collins-Fulea has been active professionally with the American College of Nurse Midwives, serving in many different roles , including two terms as Vice President, and one term as President.  She has participated in a number of interorganizational committees with ACOG, including the Task Force on Collaboration that authored the publication Collaboration in Practice: Implementing Team-Based Care. In 2019, she joined the DNP faculty at Frontier Nursing University and is currently an assistant professor, teaching quality improvement science and mentoring doctoral students QI initiatives
