The doctoral project aimed to look at reproductive grief screening and support services within a private practice in Los Angeles County. While there are no current clinical practice guidelines or validated screening tools specifically for reproductive grief, the project aimed to capture a large percentage of the patient population who have experienced some form of reproductive loss within their lifespan through screening, evaluate how those losses were handled at the time the loss was experienced in the patients perspective, take those lived experiences in formulating ways to improve experiences for those in the future who may experience a loss, and find ways the practice could improve support services offered based on screening results and patient preferences.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this session learners will be able to analyze a reproductive grief screening tool and its impact on providing support services in clinical practice.
- Define reproductive loss from the patient perspective
- Recognize ways patients handle reproductive loss through their individual experience.
- Introduce a screening tool that can be used for reproductive loss.
- Discuss methods of support based on screening results.
