After this presentation learners will be able to evaluate a toolkit that incorporates the Two-Eyed Seeing Indigenous Framework into traditional/western clinical practices to address inequity in maternal health for women of color.
Learning Outcomes:
- Introduce the principles of the Two-Eyed Seeing framework and toolkit for addressing the maternal health crisis for women of color.
- Discuss incorporating this framework and toolkit into traditional/western clinical approaches for equitable maternal healthcare.
- Reflect on how the framework and toolkit can be used to address the maternal health crisis for women of color through advocacy and clinical/systemic change.

Presenter: Luana Rodriguez
Luana Rodriguez, DNP, CNM, CCTP, FACNM, is a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and founder of Body and Soul Sovereignty United, a nonprofit to advance maternal health equity for women of color. Dr. Rodriguez developed the Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk) framework for maternal health, which bridges Indigenous knowledge and Western biomedical science to advance equity and culturally responsive care. In 2024, she moderated the United Spirits Forums at the University of Arizona, bringing together clinicians, scholars, and community members to address systemic disparities in maternal health. She is now creating The Empathy Legacy Series, a masterclass in empathy, cultural humility, Indigenous knowledge, and stewardship, designed to inspire transformative healing and leadership across healthcare and beyond.
